Guernica catalogue

Catalogue "Guernica"
The exhibition catalogue
"Guernica"
42 euros
The catalogue of Guernica's exhibition presented at the Musée national Picasso-Paris, focuses on the history of one of Pablo Picasso's major masterpieces via the links that unite the painting and the Spanish artist throughout his life and the way the work instilled culture until becoming a popular icon. Created in 1937 in a vast format, Guernica summarizes the plastic researches Picasso led for more than 40 years. Thanks to the reproduction of more than 130 works of the artist, this book proposes a new interpretation of the masterpieces that punctuate the path of Guernica. Exhibited, reproduced everywhere in the world, this work was all at once an anti Francoist, anti-Fascist and pacifist symbol, which the artist kept the traces in his own archives. Thus, this publication presents hundreds of documents, from an unprecedented work of researches into the private archives of Pablo Picasso, that enlighten differently the question of the political commitment of the painter and that testifies of the material help given by Picasso to the anti-Francoist Spanish artists. If Guernica is still considered nowadays a work of a rare force, it is also thanks to the visual, political and literary contexts in which it was exhibited: the Pavillon de l'Exposition international des Arts et Techniques in 1937 and the importance of men that contributed to spread this work such as Michel
Leiris in the Cahier d'art or Paul Eluard whose some of his texts are here reproduced. Finally, the catalogue will present a dozen of works and testimonies of contemporary artists directly inspired by Guernica, testifying even more of the exceptional circulation of this Picasso's masterpiece into the memories.

Picasso-Giacometti catalogue

Catalogue "Picasso-Giacometti"
The exhibition catalogue
"Picasso-Giacometti"
39 euros
The Picasso-Giacometti exhibition catalogue attests to a new level of research in the very depths of the archives and brings to light documents that have never been published before. The expertise of curators and art historians provides a new, in-depth perspective on the links that united these two artists who, each in their own way, turned aesthetic convention on its head and brought new measures to art. An anthology of historic texts allows us to examine the ways in which their contemporaries viewed their work. The section dedicated to illustrations features one hundred and sixty fullpage reproductions, while books of photographs open up the studios and place the reader at the heart of creative activity. A list of works on display and a selective bibliography complete the publication. Intended both for the general public, through the importance given to iconography, and as a tool for scientific research, this purpose of this publication is therefore to reach the widest possible readership.

The opening editions of Musée national Picasso-Paris

A book was missing to discover the treasures hidden in the Picasso Paris National Museum. The Museum offers three books that will satisfy different expectations.

Reproducing more than 400 works, structured chronologically, these books retrace the career of Pablo Picasso, following the different periods of his work, from the Blue Period to the late portrait. The Young Painter of 1972. Each period is introduced by a synthetic text explaining the main formal principles that governed his work.

Under the direction of Anne Baldassari, General Curator of Heritage, the scientific team of the Musée national Picasso-Paris approaches the collection by the nature of the works (painting, sculpture, ceramics, graphic arts, illustrated book, archives). A vast chronology links biography and exegesis of the work.

The covers offer a choice of several colours (blue, yellow, red) for a "collector's" effect.
