About the exhibition
Hôtel Salé, level 2
"Picasso, Diurnes" is a curated sequence of works in the collection at the Musée National Picasso-Paris. Paintings, sculptures and drawings are brought together to explore the daytime face of Pablo Picasso, with the words of the poet Jacques Prévert. Picasso’s solar universe is illustrated by his bathers, Mediterranean landscapes or faun musicians, in dialogue with the works of Paul Cézanne or Auguste Renoir from his private collection.
Hôtel Salé, level 3
"Picasso, Night Interior" is a curated sequence of the Musée National Picasso-Paris collection that looks at works relating to night time and dreams, to contrast the Diurnes sequence presented on level 2. Still lifes by candlelight and scenes of reverie, sleeping beauties and apparitions, surrealist and erotic works, compared with the works of Douanier Rousseau or Henri Matisse from the artist’s personal collection, punctuate this exploration of Pablo Picasso’s nocturnal sphere.
